Hostel Details

HI-DC LOVES GROUPS! Groups that consist of at least 10 travelers can take advantage of special assistance from our Group Sales and Services Staff. We recognize that every group comes to Washington, DC with different needs and preferences, and it is HI-DC’s intent to help make your experience in the Nation’s Capital a unique and memorable one. All you have to do is ask!

ACCOMMODATIONS We offer safe, clean and comfortable dormitory-style rooms. You may choose from male, female or co-ed rooms, all with single-sex bathrooms on the guestroom floor. Rooms may have between four and ten (10) beds, with free in-room lockers, linens and towels for every hosteller. We do have a limited number of private rooms (some with private bathroom), though these tend to reserve several weeks or months in advance. The hostel has no age restrictions for groups, though hostellers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult parent or chaperone.

PROGRAMMING A hostel is more than a place to sleep. It is a dynamic traveling experience where you can meet people from around the world. Also, we would be happy to help you plan activities and find ways to reduce the overall cost of the trip. Some of the ways we can help include the following: • Itinerary planning • Tips for making the best use of free hostel amenities, like the fully-equipped, self-service kitchen • Pre-purchase of tickets to attractions • Free tours of the sights and neighborhoods • Contact information for the major activities in the area • Movie Nights at the hostel

Prices from

Group rates range from $28 to $40 per person, per night. Any group of 10 or more people becomes eligible to have the non-member fee ($3 per person, per night) waived.

Bus:	FROM THE GREYHOUND / TRAILWAYS / PETER PAN BUS STATION Walk 3 blocks to New York Avenue Metro Station and take the Red Line train toward Shady Grove. Exit at Metro Center and take the 11th Street exit. Walk three blocks North on 11th Street (about 10 minutes) to HI-DC, just North of K Street. The estimated total cost of your trip = $1.35
Metro:	Take MetroRail to Metro Center Station(Red / Blue / Orange Lines). Take the 11th Street Exit. Walk North on 11th Street 3 blocks (just past K Street).
Parking:	Metered street parking is $1 per hour, but it can be difficult to find open spaces. Private parking lots range in price from $8.50 to $12.00 per day. Please ask at the front desk for more information and directions.
Location:	We are located on 11th Street, NW, between K and L Streets. You will notice us from the flags flying in front of our building and the trees with blue lights. Our mailing address is: Hostelling International-Washington, DC; 1009 11th Street, NW; Washington, DC 20001. Set in the heart of downtown DC, HI-DC is close to all of the best the city has to offer: • The White House (8 blocks) • The National Mall (8 blocks) – home to the Capitol, monuments and museums • Chinatown (4 blocks) • Metro Center (3 blocks) – MetroRail is the local subway system • Bus stops and taxi stands (1 block) • And just steps from bars, restaurants, performing art centers and many more attractions
Rail:	FROM THE TRAIN (AMTRAK) STATION / UNION STATION Take the Circulator bus going toward Georgetown. Exit at the intersection of 11th Street, NW and K Street, NW. Airport:	FROM THE AIRPORT: METRORAIL & METROBUS From Dulles International Airport (IAD): Take Bus 5A toward L’Enfant Plaza and exit at Rosslyn Metro Station. Take the Blue Line train toward Largo and exit at Metro Center Station. Take the 11th Street exit. Walk three blocks North on 11th Street (about 10 minutes) to HI-DC, just North of K Street. The estimated total cost of your trip = $4.35 to $4.65 (depending on time of day) From Ronald Reagan / Washington National Airport (DCA): Take the Metrorail Blue Line train toward Largo and exit at Metro Center Station. Take the 11th Street exit. Walk three blocks North on 11th Street (about 10 minutes) to HI-DC, just North of K Street. The estimated total cost of your trip = $1.35 to $1.65 (depending on time of day) From Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI): Take Bus B30 toward Greenbelt Metro Station and exit there. Enter the Greenbelt Metro Station and take the Yellow Line train toward Mount Vernon Square or take the Green Line train toward Branch Avenue. From either the Yellow or Green Line trains, exit at Mount Vernon Square and walk South on 11th Street (about 10 minutes) to HI-DC, just North of K Street.
